Agentic AI for Quebec SMBs

In short

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that do more than answer: they plan and carry out tasks in your tools — reading an email, updating the CRM, sending a follow-up — according to rules you set. For an SMB, a first agent costs CA$3,500 plus CA$349 a month at Zenidata.

Over the past two years, most businesses have tried generative AI: you ask a question, you get text. According to the Institut de la statistique du Québec, 12.7% of Quebec businesses had used AI to produce goods or services in the twelve months before the second quarter of 2025, and the smallest firms lag furthest behind.

Agentic AI is the next step: the AI no longer just drafts the email, it sends it, records the reply and moves on to the next file. That is where the hours are recovered, and that is also where clear rules are needed.

Calling is the shortest path. By form or by email, we reply within 1 business day. The audit takes 30 minutes and commits you to nothing.

A process sketched on a whiteboard with two SMB owners, before handing it to an AI agent

Generative AI, chatbot, agentic AI: the difference in one minute

  • Generative AI (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude): you ask, it drafts. A person does the rest.
  • Chatbot: it answers your customers from your content. It informs; it does not act in your systems.
  • AI agent (agentic AI): it receives a goal, picks the steps, uses your tools — calendar, email, accounting software, CRM — and reports on what it did.

How an AI agent works

An agent has four parts. A goal ("follow up on invoices 15 days overdue"). Tools, meaning limited access to your software. Rules: what it may do alone, what must go through a person, what it must never do. And a log where every action is written down.

The language model provides the reasoning: it reads the situation and picks the next step. The rules and the log are the guardrails. A good agent is not the one with the most powerful model; it is the one whose rules were written with the people who do the task today.

What agentic AI already does well in an SMB

The best candidates are repetitive tasks, with steady volume, whose rules fit in a few sentences:

The real risks, and how we handle them

  • Mistakes. A language model can be confidently wrong. Safeguard: sensitive steps go through a person, and the agent invents nothing that is not in your data.
  • Access. An agent that can do everything can break everything. Safeguard: it only has access to the data and actions its task requires.
  • Law 25. A fully automated decision about a person (refusing credit, a job application) requires informing them and allowing a human review. Safeguard: hosting in Canada, data minimization, logging, and a file handed over for your privacy impact assessment. See our Law 25 guide.
  • Runaway costs. A poorly tuned agent can consume a lot. Safeguard: a fixed monthly fee in our packages, and a volume agreed before signing.
  • Lock-in. Safeguard: you keep control of your data and of what we build for you.

Where to start

With a single task, measured before and after. Not with a forty-page "AI strategy". One task that works in three weeks teaches you more than a year of reading, and it pays for the next one. That is the idea behind our First digital worker package.

Our packages, with prices

The same prices for everyone, before taxes, in Canadian dollars. The 30-minute discovery call stays free: we use it to check that the task can really be automated before proposing anything.

Automation plan

CA$750

Timeline

1 week

For whom

You know you are losing time, but not yet where to start.

  • Your repetitive tasks measured one by one: volume, time, errors
  • Automations ranked from highest to lowest payoff
  • A firm price and timeline for each
  • The grants you qualify for, checked
  • Credited 100% toward your first package if you go ahead

Best place to start

First digital worker

CA$3,500

then CA$349/month

Timeline

About 3 weeks

For whom

One specific task that costs you hours every week.

  • One task automated end to end: follow-ups, quotes, accounts receivable, invoice entry…
  • Connected to one of your existing tools (calendar, email, accounting software, CRM)
  • Your team approves the sensitive steps: nothing delicate goes out without you
  • Hosted in Canada, with a Law 25 file handed over at delivery
  • Monthly: AI usage, monitoring, adjustments and a report of hours recovered

Digital team

CA$7,500 to CA$12,000

then CA$590/month

Timeline

4 to 8 weeks

For whom

Two or three tasks that follow one another across a process.

  • Two or three linked tasks, for example: quote, follow-up, then invoice
  • Several tools connected together
  • Dashboard of tasks done and hours recovered
  • Everything included in the first digital worker

Custom

From CA$15,000

Timeline

2 to 4 months, in stages

For whom

Several departments, several systems, or industry software to integrate.

  • AI agents connected to several systems (CRM, ERP, accounting, industry software)
  • Staged rollout, each stage measured before the next
  • Monthly fee quoted in the proposal, based on volume

Founding rate: three spots

Our first three "First digital worker" clients pay CA$2,900 and CA$299/month. In return, we measure your situation before we start and you allow us to publish the results: hours recovered, follow-ups sent, turnaround times. That is how we build our case studies, honestly, instead of inventing testimonials.

50% at signing, 50% at go-live. Taxes extra.

Licences for your own software remain yours to pay. The monthly fee covers a normal SMB volume; if yours is unusual, we price it with you before signing, not after.

What an AI employee does, in detail

Frequently asked questions about agentic AI

What is agentic AI?

It is a form of artificial intelligence that carries out tasks instead of only producing text. An AI agent receives a goal, picks the steps, acts in your software (calendar, email, accounting, CRM) according to your rules and keeps a log of every action.

What is the difference between agentic AI and ChatGPT?

ChatGPT drafts and answers; a person copies, sends and follows up. An AI agent does those steps itself in your tools, with your prices, policies and files. ChatGPT remains excellent for an employee who writes; an agent is for tasks repeated dozens of times a week.

Is agentic AI compatible with Law 25?

Yes, if it is designed in from the start: hosting in Canada preferably, access limited to the data needed, consent per purpose, an action log, and a possible human review for any fully automated decision about a person. This is not legal advice; your privacy officer remains the point of contact.

How much does an AI agent cost for a Quebec SMB?

At Zenidata: CA$3,500 plus CA$349 a month for a first agent assigned to one task, CA$7,500 to CA$12,000 plus CA$590 a month for two or three linked tasks, and from CA$15,000 for a custom project spanning several systems. Before taxes, in Canadian dollars.

Do we need perfect data to start?

No. For a task like accounts receivable follow-up, the information just needs to exist somewhere: accounting software, spreadsheet, emails. The discovery call is there to check what is available.

What tools do you build agents with?

It depends: automation platforms such as n8n, Make or Zapier, language models chosen for the task, and direct connections to your software when it offers a connection interface. We pick the simplest tool that does the job.
